Giving up the hassle, but maintaining control of your utilities connections...
When it comes to the management of the design process it's natural to want to remain hands-on, if that's what you've always done. But what if there was a way to release yourself from the day to day hassles, chasing, and fire-fighting of utilities projects, so you can focus on more productive tasks, whilst still having an exact handle on where each project stands? It all comes down to communication, experience and trust.
Essentially there isn't a magic wand to wave or a secret but quicker way of obtaining design layouts and quotations from the statutory utilities. No, unfortunately you have to go through the same long winded process of filling-in application forms, collating information, to then have to chase by making numerous phone calls to whomever is dealing with your project.
Although this frustrating process cannot be avoided, it can be simplified and controlled to make it as painless as possible.
Here at PDI we have, through experience and knowledge, fine tuned our approach to dealing with the application process. We have our own internal bespoke system that records the status and progress of each project. This ensures that those small but essential elements of new service supply requirements are not overlooked. For example, how often does your company forget to allow for temporary builders supplies? ...or landlords supplies to flats? etc. etc.
Our method also means that we report to you at intervals agreed wth you at the outset. This ensures you're always fully informed of progress. In fact at the very outset we'll agree with you exactly what we're going to do on the project by way of our Design Brief. This will ensure that you're completely clear with what to expect - with no surprises.
"As a result of procuring the design services from PDI, for most of our major development sites, the stress and hassle encountered when dealing direct with the statutory utility companies has been greatly reduced. PDI's introduction of a combined services drawing, detailing the utilities infrastrcuture layout for the site, has also proved beneficial to our site management and civils groundwork contractors"
